President Yoweri Museveni vows to take tough action against the country’s protestors.

總統穆塞韋尼發誓將對該國的抗爭人士採取強硬的手段。

Last week in the Ugandan capital city, Kampala, police officers broke up a banned political rally by spraying opposition leaders with a pink liquid. Long-running protests against spiraling prices escalated last week, but President Yoweri Museveni has plans to stamp out the unrest. Apart from coating people with pink goo, he has also said he wants to deny bail for 6 months to those arrested for demonstrating.

上週在烏干達首都坎帕拉，警察朝反對派領袖潑灑粉紅色液體以打散一個被禁的政治集會。反對價格急遽上漲的長期抗議於上週情勢升高，但是總統穆塞韋尼已經計畫要鎮壓這場動亂。除了潑人粉紅色的黏膠以外，他還說他想要拒絕那些因為示威遭逮捕的人在六個月內保釋。

Before spraying the political figures, police tried to block their path with dogs; then, after the liquid attack, they arrested Democratic Party leader Norbert Mao. Before getting bundled into a police van, Mao spoke to reporters and said: “I don’t know what liquid it is. I don’t know whether it is lethal or not, but there was no justification for pouring those liquids on us.”

在潑灑政治人物以前，警方試圖用狗阻擋他們的通路，在潑灑攻擊之後，他們逮捕了民主黨領袖諾伯特毛。在被警方押進警車前，諾伯特毛跟記者說，「我不知道那是什麼液體，我不知道它會不會致命，不過他們沒有正當理由向我們潑灑。」

Uganda has been controlled by Museveni for 25 years, and the polarizing figure won a controversial election back in February. The nation’s main opposition figure, Kizza Besigye of the Forum for Democratic Change, said the vote was rigged. Museveni was scheduled to be sworn in for a presidential term on May 12, and observers were saying security would be extremely tight on that day.

烏干達已經遭到穆塞韋尼控制25年了，這個偏激的人物在二月贏了一場爭議性的選舉。該國的主要反對人士是民主變革論壇的貝西耶，他說投票遭到操控。穆塞韋尼原本預計要在5月12日發表總統宣誓，觀察員說當天的維安會非常嚴密。
